The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has introduced a harmonised and risk-based framework for the transmission of listed securities and AMC-issued units upon the demise of a sole holder or all joint holders, aimed at simplifying documentation and making the process more efficient and investor-friendly.
The circular introduces a Quick Transmission Processing (QTP) mechanism for low-value claims by immediate relatives, along with simplified documentation requirements. It also introduces reforms including acceptance of QR code-enabled death certificates, a combined Affidavit-cum-NOC, and removal of the mandatory requirement for probate of a Will.
The framework further prescribes a 21-calendar-day timeline for processing complete transmission requests and standardises procedures for market participants.
